Errant 'Statement seems to have no effect'

I've used PyCharm for a few months on windows, but I just started using it on Linux, (Ubuntu 10.04).  I am seeing a lot of odd inspector highlighting.  Take this one for example.

What is going on here?  I don't want to have to disable the inspections, but this highlight is nonsense.

Also, when I retype the exact same line, the highlight goes away.

Your screenshots don't show the status of the right gutter. Does it show an eye above the scrollbar (meaning the analysis is still in progress) or a solid square (meaning the analysis is completed)?
