Performance?

Hey guys, first of all, I'd like to thank all devs for making the best ruby ide out there.
However, I am very disappointed with how rubymine3 (rubymine2 was even worse) performs on my system.

Some specs:
OS: Linux Ubuntu 10.10
CPU: Athlon II x4
RAM: 4gb DDR3
Video: nvidia gts250 with proprietary drivers

java 64bit build 1.6.0_22-b04

Editing in rubymine gets painfully slow, especially for haml with embedded ruby. I tweaked heap size (-Xms512m -Xmx1024m -XX:MaxPermSize=800m -ea), disabled most plugins, extensions, intentions and inspections -- didn't help much.

It may halt for 20 seconds when I just navigate or type into haml-embedded ruby.

Any tips would be really, really appreciated

Hello Mark,

Thanks for the warm words about RubyMine, we really appreciate it.
Talking about perfomance problems, could you please capture CPU snapshot as described here: http://devnet.jetbrains.net/docs/DOC-1144

Oleg

Okay, i tried to record something, though, those spikes, while really annoying, seem to miss any system. Probably it's connected to IDE uptime somehow.

Thanks a lot for the snapshot, it looks like we can make some perfomance improvements according to it.

Oleg
