Adding new action/button to run console?

I'd like to add a new button to the 'run' console, for example, just below
the built-in 'Dump Threads' button. Is this possible?

In addition, in this scenario I'd like to know a few details about the running
application:
-the pid of the process
-the JVM used to run it (vendor and version)

Any existing API to obtain these?
