intellij 15 is stalled(hang) on mac osx

after upgrade to intellij 15 from intellij 15 ea(and intellij 14),

it stalled just after open a project
with "Indexing..." on status line.

i'd tried to clean install after delete ~/Library/Cache/IntelliJIdea15 and ~/Library/Preferences/IntelliJIdea15.
but it's stalled the same point.

here's my idea.log and about box.
is there any possible workaround?

Fuming at the moment... It is a completely wrong idea to always open projects that last were open on previous close. This should be prompted about. It is also a major flaw not being able to stop this indexing that stalls. Now I am just about to uninstall IntelliJ and download again as the current bundling does NOT allow me any control nor ability to intervene before this stupid blocking indexing happens. Smoke at the moment coming out of my ears...

Uninstalling your product on OSX is also defect.

More disapointed after forcibly removing the kit with rm -rf and reinstall. Latest greatest version 2016.3 does not start up because it insists in this stupid indexing.

Could you please clarify the issue? Does 2016.3 hang on indexing and doesn't start? Could you please attach idea.log (https://intellij-support.jetbrains.com/hc/en-us/articles/207241085-Locating-IDE-log-files) after reproducing the issue?

Thanks for the reply Yaroslav.

I have removed and rebuilt all my .idea structure for the projects in question. I can however reiterate and elaborate on a comment above.

When closing down IntelliJ it remembers which projects were open and on restart opens the same projects. The real defect here is that somtimes there seems to be some kind of corruption and/or a bug in IJ that during project indexing makes it hang with the spinning wheel coming to a stop. I have to this problem applied maximum patience such as going for lunch and still an hour later that progress wheel is stuck.

My suggestions are as follows:

Always prompt for opening projects on startup.

For indexing split the task into only indexing files actually in a project and optionally offer indexing on other files that are log and temp files in build directories etc... This will eliminate another defect where searching does bring up binary files and the like which is a major annoyance.

Allow for cancelling the index scan. There is a small x button there but in the situations I am describing it is grey and inactive. A watchdog thread is a good idea. When some automatically triggered action such as index has taken too much time the user should be presented a dialog to kill it. Looking at filesize before attempting to index is another key feature.

Onto unrelated things. IJ has a good Jar file browser. This is however not available in all contexts where Jar files appear in the project tree. Please consider amending that as it is a truly useful feature to inspect output of gradle builds etc. A feature to identify potentially unused Jar files would also be really cool.

Best regards, Tolli.
