Best way to deploy settings to organization

Hey all,

I am in the process of converting our orginizations project to use the new .idea project structure vs .ipr file. As I am doing this there are some settings we would like to deploy to all users using our code base/intellij project. The .idea folder seems to provide a log of customization however this is one setting that can not be stored in this folder. The setting I need to change globally is file and folder exclusion which is stored in ~/IntellijIdeaXX/config/filetypes.xml. Looking at the source, there is no loading from the project settings.

The root issue we need to solve is our project has a module name which is excluded in that list. Ideally we should not have to tell develpers to remove that from their exclusions when they install Intellij.

Any ideas?

What is the name of the module that is ignored by default?

It might be easier to rename the module directory.

Thats for the fast reply!

The name of the package name (woops, not module) is rcs. Refactoring is an option, is the pretty much the only solution?

Yes, it would be the easiest option if you don't want to instruct all the developers to remove it from the exclude list.

Please also vote for https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEA-105927 so that it's removed from the exclude list in the future updates.
