Maia M1 lost all settings and license

Build 10369 had a number of issues even before ide has loaded:

  • It didn't detect settings which I used for a while with Maia EAP builds, instead forced me to go through a full plugin configure as if it were a new install
  • It didn't accept our Codehaus license, which used to work up until build 10369. Folks, what are your plans on this? Should I ping Codehaus to apply for a new license for Maia? Currently running in 30 day eval mode, the clock is ticking...

More info - I found that this build creates a .IntelliJIdea9M1 folder for settings. WTH? Since when did every milestone/build require a dedicated settings folder? No wonder it complained about not being able to import. Guys, could you please communicate the policy for upcoming builds? Unannounced changes like that cripple the flow, it gets much harder to try our new eaps and report bugs.

My findings so far:

  • Managed to bring back my settings by copying the 'config' folder from .IntelliJIdea90 to .IntellJIdea9M1. Don't copy the system folder of course.
  • Copied the idea key file from the previous config as well and it worked. Pardon me if this wasn't supposed to be like that, consider it a bug in licensing module then


Hope some poor sods coming across this upgrade problem may find it useful.
