Modal Dialogs - again

to add insult to injury, killing idea 8 causes a full reparse on the next startup. ouch.

I am wondering if idea developers have a choice to make a dialog modal
vs not modal. I am sitting here waiting for a "Dataflow to this" to
complete searching and i cannot work in the meantime. i cannot stop
it either. This is similar to the decision to use modal dialogs for
cvs checkout.

is it possible to create modal dialogs as a last resort for every idea
feature in the future? and also, by default, create a cancel button
for every modal/blocking dialog? it makes for a bad user experience.
i am now going to kill idea 8, since data flow to this is now
recursing forever..

I'm finding that IDEA 8 does a full reparse when restarted even after a controlled exit :(
