Technology roadmap for IDEA 8.0

Hello everyone,

We've finally published a preliminary roadmap describing the technologies
that we currently plan to support in IntelliJ IDEA 8:
http://www.jetbrains.net/confluence/display/IDEADEV/IDEA8.0Technology+Roadmap

This isn't likely to contain much new information for people who've been
tracking the forum discussions, but we've decided that it's useful to have
everything summarized in one place.

Also, it doesn't talk about "core Java" features that we've implemented or
plan to implement. We don't have any official documents for that part yet.

"Unused Declaration" inspection seem to do exactly what you're asking for. Please note this is heavy tool thus you need to launch that explicitly using Analyze | Inspect Code.

Wow, ok... I guess I totally missed that.... Thanks everyone!

Please think twice before accepting an inspection suggestion. For us, IDEA
suggests to make some methods final in an interface declaration...

amen to that list.

I commend the JetBrains team for cleaning up 7. 7.0.4 is a solid IDE. In past years I've always stayed cutting edge, primarily because the released version was so buggy (referring to 5.0 and 6.0 specifically). But this year it is the opposite and I'm happy to stick with 7.0.x and enjoy a stable environment.

And it would be SO much nicer if some of these "little things" (irritants) would be corrected.

Same with me. All important plug-ins, e.g. Rearranger, don't work any more
in Diana, it does contain nearly nothing of value for me and finally, I need
to be productive. Tried 8.0M1 for 15 minutes until I switched back to 7.0.4.
