I'd also love an answer to this question. Does IDEA decide internally whether to delegate to idea64.exe on a 64-bit system? Or must we specifically lanuch it with idea64.exe? I also assume that the JRE bundled with IDEA is the 32-bit version, so would this also mean forcing IDEA to use a separate 64-bit JRE instead of the bundled JRE?
Also, it would help to know whether running idea64.exe actually makes much of a difference? Does it speed things up? Or is it purely a question of available memory?
