GUI XHTML Editor
When the hell did the kick arse GUI XHTML editor creep into IDEA?

Is this a Demetra only thing or is it in 5.1?

Nice :) The more I play with it the more neat features I find hidden
nicely in it.... very kick arse.
That looks 100% like the Fabrique designer :).
Good to see the Fabrique was not 100% useless.
Ahmed.

Cool, I only ever looked at one or two builds of Fabrique so never
really used it enough to remember it...
Mark,
We would really love to see some detailed feedback about designer.
Especially we're interested in hearing your own needs/use cases for it.
One use case that it's not covered, but it would be very simple to cover would be
to add support for Velocity files. This should be very simple since the synthax
is even simpler than the one for FreeMarker.
Also IMHO the designer should be fully covered by OpenAPI (or to be delivered with sources),
since many frameworks that use one of the supported syntaxes have different "controls"/elements,
so you can't implement all.
Ahmed.
Yep, we're going to provide OpenApi for this soon.

Thank you :).
And what about Velocity?
Ahmed.

Will have to give it good bashing - I kinda broke my machine at home
last week so havn't been catching up on the forums here or some of my
other projects to play with the editor.
But I'm sure you'll hear from us :)
It would be possible if there was a PSI for Velocity.
Stupid question - what is a "GUI XHTML Editor" ? Is it the improved GUI for the XHTML Text Editor or an improvement of the GUI designer? How do I call it up/where is it?
Thanks,
Peter
As other threads or messages from this thread mention it's a WYSIWYG editor for XHTML code
supplied from the Fabrique project.
If in a webmodule you edit a JSPX file, you'll have at the bottom of the page an extra tab called
Designer (near the actual designer tab).
There you can visually edit XHTML GUIs.

Can't use it at all:

Can it be because I did not configure JSF support for my web module?
Is it meant to be a JSF designer or is it based on XHTML?

You can use it for XHTML without JSF too - at least it works for me :).
Just open a JSPX file and there' you have the designer.
Ahmed.

It's also in non-webmodule projects assigned to .xhtml and .fml
extensions ( at least it was on my install - which surprised me, as
Freemarker isn't (afaik) used anywhere in IDEA...
Looks like you have .fml extension assigned to XHTML file type.

The thing is - Demetra is the ONLY version of IDEA I've -ever- installed
on this laptop. And its also the first time I'd ever tried out
Freemarker. So it wasn't me - very strange...
Oh well :)
