failure of 10.5.3 patch

The 10.5.3 upgrade patch failed after copying a number of jars.

For me, the appeal of computer programming is that
even though I am quite a klutz,
I can still produce something, in a sense
perfect, because the computer gives me as many
chances as I please to get it right.

However, when I started Intellij I discovered it was still on 10.5.2,
but it had a build dated 2011-12-01. and there was an idea64.exe which
was using JRE 1.7.0_01.

So it looks like it worked after all.  There is no sign of a 10.5.3
directory with a half-installed IntelliJ.

Also got the same message from 10.5.2 -> 10.5.3 patch - which still reads 10.5.2 BTW? anybody know what state these failures leave the IDE in?

It seems to be ok. That infuriating bug of refusing to run, only debug
is still there.

You wonder how such a bug slips through. I guess they don't have a
machine sufficiently virgin.  Doing any development preconditions the
machine so the install succeeds.
