splitting an editor window with 2 files
somehow i though this was going to be in aurora. is it? if so, how do i split an editor window with file 1 in the top pane, and file 2 in the bottom one?

you do it by setting up a new vertical tab group (which is found in the 'File' menu). Then just use ctrl-n (or any other method) to open the files you want in each pane. But note that the same file can't be in separate tab groups.
File -> New Horizontal Tab Group
or
File -> New Vertical Tab Group
