Please, resuscitate the weekly progress report, and give us a - short - roadmap.
It doesn't have to be exhaustive, nor detailed, but we need something to
get the community feeling back.
It's easier to be patient if you know when your train is scheduled.

Does the freight train always pass the station at 5a.m. ?! -- No, this is
abnormal... It is scheduled for 10 past 4 ;)
I do not think that you would be able to affect what they do anyway, if they
want to release 4.0 in November.

I'm profoundly convinced people would stop whining/ranting/complaining
about feature X being being absent/buggy/incomplete/.. if they knew the
the JetBrains team is currently sweating to finish features Z and X,
because feature Y depends on it, and that feature Y should be finished
in 6-10 calendar days.

How long would it take one person, once a week, to type 7-15 line to
summarize the work they have just finished.
How long would it take, one person, just once, to write a 10-20 line
roadmap. We don't need more than that. I don't. Don't you?

I have to agree with Alain, we've at least asked for the roadmap a few
times before, been promised that, and then nothing.

While I agree, I must disagree. I'm a developer and I know how much of a
PAIN it is to do yet another status report.
I have an idea for a compromise.
How about adding estimated dates for the features to the
http://www.intellij.net/eap/products/idea/aurora.jsp page?

It usually took me from 30 to 60 minutes (but this also included some
moments when I was interrupted by someone).

I completely agree with Alain, having requested this many time as well like a lot of others.
Like Alain I firmly believe that knowning what is going on will keep the noise on the forums down. It might even pay for itself by saving the 30mn-60mn it takes to do it in SCR/post handling.
