Question: How to synchronize project pane with the current file in editor

hi,

I'm looking for a way to get the project pane scroll to the dir where the currrent file is in. There is a "Autoscroll to Source" button in the project pane. I'm expecting something like "Autoscroll to Dir" or a shortcut.

Is it a planned feature or already implemented?

Please let me know.

Thanks,
Cao

Aha, it is the short cut everybody needs:-) I was looking for it myself
a while ago. Try Alt-F1 and select project in the pop up.

Alt-F1, select Project then press the Left arrow key.

This is probably the most frequently asked question, over time, about IDEA.

This feature needs to be made more obvious and discoverable. The only way I
found it was asking on here, like so many before me and so many since...

I agree. Maybe they can put a button in the project pane? Like to the right of the "Show structure" button. At least that way people will wonder what it is and try it, hopefully.

True. It needs to be just like the scroll-to-source. Have it work both
ways. Don't force people to remember keystrokes when there is an automatic
way.

Latest version (2018.1.4) has this option. Project pane-> Settings-> "Auto Scroll to Source" or Auto Scroll from Source" . Thanks Jet Brains for adding it.
