Some announcements
With the release of Irida and some even more interesting changes in my personal life, I've decided it's time to make some changes to my extracurricular activities. No details yet, but I plan to be spending nights and weekends building something amazing around IDEA, to be available for your favorite developer for Christmas (or possibly Valentine's Day). Wish me luck.
Given the amount of time that I'll be allocating to this new project (let alone my day job), it would be irresponsible to leave my earlier projects effectively unsupported. I'm happy to announce that no such thing will be happening.
InspectionGadgets and IntentionPowerPack are being left in extremely capable hands. Bas Liejsdekkers has consented to take over as temporary maintainer of these projects. Bas is well known to all here, and I'm overjoyed to be handing him the keys to my babies. Bas has been an active contributor to IG and IPP since the beginning, and understands the vision I've had for these products backwards and forwards. I'm shipping over 100 new inspections with Irida, and am somewhat embarrassed that the coolest new inspection in Irida is Bas's. I'm sure he'll do a great job.
The future of MetricsReloaded is still to be determined, but there will be an interim release within the next week, with bug fixes, performance improvements, new metrics, prebuilt metrics profiles to make it easier for new users, links information about metrics, usability improvements and headless operation.
I will of course be active on these fora (try to stop me!), but specific questions or requests about existing plugins should be directed to Bas. Wish him well, and try not to be to hard him. Thanks to all of you for your support, and thanks to JetBrains for letting my work on the best piece of software ever made.

Thanks for the praise Dave. I hope the "interesting changes" are
interesting in a good way, not a bad:-)
I'm really looking forward to seeing what amazing thing you will create.
It's going to be hard to top InspectionGadgets and IntentionPowerPack,
but I'm sure you can do it.
Good luck,
Bas

There's no doubt that IG/IPP are in good hands with you Bas. Good luck Dave, whatever
you're up to :)

My guess: When you hit a certain number of IG warnings in your class,
Dave's new Señor Archie Tekt plugin throws up its hands up and says, in
an exasperated Spanish accent, "Qué puta mierda, let me do it!" Then it
proceeds to re-write your whole project.

Which inspection is the 'coolest' ?
"Scope of variable is too broad". It finds local variables declared earlier than they need to be, and moves their declaration to the latest possible time. Makes it easy to change Pascal-like code where all the variables are declared at method start to more modern code where variables are declared as needed. I honestly didn't think it was feasible, until Bas did it.
