IntelliJ IDEA slow when window gets focus

Answered

Since a recent update, switching to my IntelliJ window takes a couple of seconds every time. (If alt-tabbing, window takes a while to pop up, if clicking on the window a spinning beach ball is shown while it does something..)
The issue is less prominent after a full reboot, but just restarting the IDE does not seem to help. It seems to be worse right after opening my laptop.

I've tried disabling all plugins, but slowly I add all of them back because I work on a broad range of projects and languages. Any way to debug this?

Could you help me with the idea logs zip from (`Help | Collect Logs and Diagnostic Data...`). You can upload it to https://uploads.jetbrains.com/ and share the upload id here. I can check the automatically captured threads that might be captured in case the UI was slow.

I have been running with GitHub CoPilot plugin disabled and it seems to be good now, so might be a problem in that plugin. Will re-enable and collect logs when it happens again!

Looks to me like it's GitHub CoPilot plugin, the problem reappeared after a day of having it enabled again. Upload ID 2025_05_27_4eDPoRoGCCDJZegykyAaWF

You can directly report Copilot plugin issues here: https://github.com/microsoft/copilot-intellij-feedback/issues
I tried to verify it from the logs but it seems the threads were not captured. You can use jstack to capture the threads so that the plugin developers can have a look at the freeze.
