IntelliJ IDEA left and right side menu icons problem

I want to show/hide each icon in left and right side menu according to my preference, however when I restart the IDE it always goes back to the default state. I tried creating custom layout in: Window -> Layouts, but it had no effect.

Check that you are following the same course of action as in SUPPORT-A-497
Yes, I have followed the tutorial precisely, but it did not help. Please, see this video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G01A72r9JE4
On your screencast, I see the following:
1. You move Run tool window to the “Left top” position
2. You move Bookmarks tool window to the “Botton left” position
3. You save the layout
4. You load the layout.
Result of the loaded tool window layout:
- Run tool window hidden (because nothing is run)
Note: if you click “Run”, you will see Run tool window on “Left top” position (as it was saved)
- Bookmarks tool window on the “Bottom left” position (as expected).
I always thought the icons are supposed to be always visible. Well, seems like it is not the case. Feel free to close this, thanks.
