PyCharm 2017.2 to 2017.3 will not update.

I have gone through the process of downloading the patch file 3 times but it doesn't seem to install as when I click "Check for updates" again, it wants to download the patch again. I have tried restarting PyCharm as well as rebooting the computer (Dell XPS 15 9550 running Windows 10). Any help would be most appreciated.

Sorry for not having updated this; I just uninstalled the old version and downloaded the new one.
Thanks for the tip on the error log, if I run into trouble again I will include that.
