In-place updates in Windows 10 fail

When IntelliJ notifies me of minor update, e.g. 2018.1.5 and I press "Update and Restart" it downloads the patch fine and shuts down IntelliJ. Then I get an alert that a large number of files gave "ACCESS DENIED" errors, and I am unable to proceed. I don't what other processes should be using the files, and it worked fine on my Windows 8.1 machine. This however is a fresh install of Windows 10.
Can anyone help me?

Check your Windows antivirus/firewall, make sure IDE settings folders and IDE installation home are excluded from the scan. Also check that the user who runs the IDE has r/w access to mentioned folders.
