Cannot build Spring Boot project that contains Static Web module

Answered

I am using IntelliJ IDEA Ultimate 2017.3.4 on macOS High Sierra 10.13.3.

I have a Kotlin based Spring Boot project that contains a static web module (see screen shot below). I am using this static web module to build the web content separately via npm. This npm build populates src/main/resources/public with the web packed version of my static web content.

When I run Build Project, IDEA reports "Cannot start compiler: SDK not specified for module "webcontent" (see screen shot below).

It is not possible to specify an SDK for a static web module because static web modules do not have an SDK.

How do I properly configure this project so that Build Project will work? Specifically, I want Build Project to build the Spring Boot portion of the project while ignoring the static web module.

Have you somehow configured Gradle source sets to have source/resource folders from the static web module? Normally the static web module should not be considered by the compiler. Is this module used as a dependency for any other module in project?

Try as a workaround create the module of a Java type instead of Static Web.

Is it possible to have a sample project?

The link below points to a ZIP file containing my IDEA project. The .git directory, the node_modules directory and the build output directories are not included to conserve space.

Running ./gradlew clean build using terminal from the root project directory properly ignores the codeday/webcontent directory. So, I am reasonably confident that this is not a gradle source set issue.

Thanks for sample project. Please follow the https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEA-186931 issue.
