spec.ts (or *.ts) no syntax highlighting

Suddenly not getting any more syntax highlighting on spec.ts files in all of my (angular) projects.

.spec.ts files are no longer recognized as .ts files. The file has a plain text icon in the project pane.

Attempted to add *.ts and spec.ts in Settings > Editor > File Types under TypeScript but that did not solve the problem.
