Automatically focus text editor when pressing Enter in Project view

Answered

Hello, when I have the project view focussed and I select a file with the keyboard and press Enter, the file opens but the text editor is not focussed, I have to press Escape to focus it. From other programs I'm used to the program automatically focussing the text editor, so when I forget that this is different in IDEA I accidentally move the cursor in Project view etc. which is quite annoying. Is there an option in the settings to make it automatically focus the text editor? Thank you.

Enable the Autoscroll to Source option or use F4.

Somewhat "Autoscroll to Source" doesn't seem to do anything, but F4 works fine, thanks.

Serge Baranov Hello! I just updated IDEA and it seems that now it is enabled by default. Can I turn it down somehow? It's very inconvinient when i want to browse through files using Project View.

@Ve Morozov what option do you mean? Please clarify what are you trying to configure.

Andrey Dernov I mean "Autoscroll to Source" is enabled by default and I can't turn it off. If i press enter while scrolling with arrow keys in a Project view, focus moves to editor. What I want instead is to open the file in editor but keep focus on Project view so I can scroll further.

It it expected that Enter key moves the focus to Editor. This is note related to "Always Select Opened File" option (ex. name "Autoscroll to Source").

Could you please clarify in which version did you have a different behaviour? What is your OS?
