IntelliJ 2018.1.5 using 100% and more CPU

Answered

Hi, I am running IntelliJ 2018.1.5 on Linux (Fedora 28). Everything is fine, until IntelliJ becomes unresponsive and top shows that it's using 100% CPU and more. I don't see any background tasks running. I tried invalidating caches like suggested in other similar posts but the issue didn't go away. I cannot see a pattern or some action that triggers this behaviour, sometimes it happens right after I open IntelliJ, some other times it runs fine for a few hours. Restarting it (sometimes kill -9 is required) fixes it, till the next time the same happens. I am running with "-Xms 512m -Xmx 1024m". Could you please help me figure out what's causing this?

Thanks

The problem persists for me, but I haven't been able to get a CPU profile snapshot. The problem is that I may not have this issue for a few days, obviously when I run with CPU profiling on, but then when the problem manifests either I have CPU profiling turned off or IntelliJ hangs completely and I don't have a way to stop CPU profiling so I can make it save the files to disk. I will try again, but I wish there would be another way. I am very surprised that this cannot be reproduced by others and fixed, I bet I am not the only one seeing this.
