Is there a way to delete whitespace to the next non-whitespace character?
Ctrl-D, Ctrl-D, x20 times is getting old.

You could configure "Hungry Backspace" shortcut in "Settings | Keymap". Also we have related request on YouTrack: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEABKL-6344. Feel free to vote for it and leave comments.
Note to self - remap "Alt-D" to 'Delete to Word' End (currently mapped to Ctrl+Delete). It will eat white space without deleting the following word.
