Simple and stupid question about the terminal caret...

So... I've looking for a solution to this for a few hours now... I'm sorry if this has been asked before, or the solution is obvious, but I can seem to find it (and what I did find was not really encouraging).

Is there any way to change the terminal caret to a simple line ( | )? I know that the editor caret follows the "block caret" setting, but the terminal doesn't seem to follow this setting. And, in the documentation, I found this: "Note that the setting Use block caret is not inherited in the terminal - its caret is always block."

If there really is no way to change it, it is sad, because it seems to be such a simple thing... A simple and stupid thing that is kind of driving me crazy :S
