Cannot find pipfile in new project

Answered

When I create a new project and select pipenv as the environment (v2018.2) Pycharm creates a virtualenv for me and I can use `pipenv install` and `pipenv lock` etc. However I cannot find the pipfile and pipfile.lock anywhere. They are not in the project folder or the .idea folder or the virtualenv folder and I need the files so I can add them to VCS. So where are they ?

did you ever get a fix for this?
I have the same issue, I think it's system related as the process works fine using the same version of pycharm on a different device.

Hi Peter,

What is your OS?

Are you able to create pipenv from system terminal?

Hi Sergey I am running Mac OS 10.14.2, I installed python using brew, I run pycharm on 2 laptops my other MacBook is fine, when I use pipenv it creates the files as expected. on the bad MacBook also running Mac OS 10.14.2, I have removed the settings but still get no pipfile, the env is being saved in a folder called ~/.local/share/virtualenvs/PycharmProjects-xxxxxx not the project name.

I once had a similar problem which was on pipenv side.

Please open Terminal in PyCharm and run pipenv install command. It should create Pipfile and Pipfile.lock in your project directory. Then try again creating pipenv in PyCharm (you can even remove these Pipfile and Pipfile.lock files).

Has it helped in your case?

Thanks for the pointers, looks like the files are now being created as expected, So in some ways the issue is SOLVED
I am now trying hard to replicated the error. so not sure what combination lead me here. it's mainly when I import Django Projects I have to add an interpreter and that doesn't always go so smooth.

Thanks for the pointers troubleshooting pipenv was a good practice.
