Expired license on EAP version
Answered
Hi,
I've just installed EAP version (2018.1.3) but during launch I still got a message that PhpStorm expired and my session will be limited to 30 minutes.
I thought that EAP version should work 30 days without such kind of limitations.
Thanks,

Hi there,
You must have used 2018.1.x before that, right?
EAP build for minor versions (like the one you are using) is the same as trial install: 30 days after first installation otherwise proper license is required.
Only EAP builds for major versions (e.g. past 2018.1 or next 2018.2) has own separate 30-days licenses.
Got it.
Thank you for explanation.
Andriy Bazanov, hi, could you tell me how to roll back to the previous version then, please? or what should i do. i've been using webstorm eap, but after regular update it just required license
@arina
Do you have a valid license/subscription for a previous version? If not -- this will not help you as Release or Release Candidate versions require a license.
In any case: you can get previous release version of WebStorm here: https://www.jetbrains.com/webstorm/download/other.html
Not sure where you can download EAP builds now once Release version is become available. Plus, EAP builds are limited to built-in 30 days license.
Andriy Bazanov, so did i get it right - i can use each new version of webstorm without a license, eap or not, just for 30 days?
@arina
No. Only EAP builds for MAJOR versions (e.g. 2020.1 EAP) have own 30 day bundled license.
EAP build for minor version (e.g. 2020.1.1), RC builds, Release build (current 2020.1) require a license.
If no license available then you can start 30 days trial. If trial has been used before (current or previous version) and it's over by now -- it will not work.
Next FREE EAP builds will be for 2020.2 EAP (will start in approx 1.5 months or so from now).
Andriy Bazanov, oh, okay, thank you!
