Cannot enable font ligatures

I'm on IDEA 2017.3.4.
The enable font ligatures checkbox is disabled/greyed out. There is a warning icon next to it, but clicking or hovering on it does not pop up any information.

Thank for the response, still having issues though.
I've switched to the bundled jdk via the ctrl+shift+A popup (which restarted IDEA), confirmed idea.config.path\<product>.jdk points to the jre inside AppData\Local\JetBrains, and confirmed there is no IDEA_JDK_64 or IDEA_JDK environment variables (which would take priority per the documentation).
Anything I could be missing?
Is it possibel to provide idea.log ("Help | Show log in...") after restarting IDE and screenshot from "Settings | Editro | Font"?
Even though I changed nothing after making the switch to the bundled JDK, ligatures are now available! Perhaps the restart caused by the switch dialogue didn't work properly. Anyway, problem has gone - thanks for your help
