Global Find (CMD Shift F) populates search with garbage

Every time I do Cmd + Shift + F it populates the search with garbage, it started after jumping up to 2018.2.5 (I downgraded after with the same result)
AD5C 2356 C8C7 3FCE F146 .........
I can hit those keys in any other random editor or text field and no garbage gets populated. I'd blame it on karabiner, but I didn't change that anytime in the last few months, nor have I installed anything other than intellij.

Ahhhhh, yesss, I was testing some key work recently, I didn't install anything new, but did enable some stuff, I'm surprised it didn't ring a bell looking at the fingerprints now.
