Caching Remote Project

Answered

I work in PyCharm with project on remote server and directory mount by OSXFUSE. Can PyCharm save files from remote server in local cache. In Sublime Text 3 I can edit remote files instantly and synchronizing with server after Save. In PyCharm I need waiting before all files download from server. Or maybe lazy download when I open file?

Hello Vladislav,

Are you deploying your project to remote host? You can set it to upload changes to the server automatically or when you save the file.

Browse Remote Host feature is also available.

If not, please see https://www.jetbrains.com/help/pycharm/creating-a-remote-server-configuration.html

PyCharm actually needs to have a local copy of the files in order to have code completion, inspections etc.

I store project in remote folder that mount in file system by OSXFUSE.

Thank you - it's describe behavior. But getting all files from remote folder not fast.

Maybe, if I connect PyCharm directly with remote server - it will be faster

I see.

Unfortunately, working with network/mounted drives is not officially supported in PyCharm at the moment, so I am not quite sure how it should work with OSXFUSE. I would only recommend to use remote development features of PyCharm in such case.
