Is there a way to enable file synchronization regardless of the active frame / window?

I'm using the built in terminal to interact with my program which outputs a .svg chart. It's annoying having to switch back to the editor and back to the terminal every time I want the image to update. It would be great if files would just synchronize regardless of where I am focused inside of intellij.
