Pinning Applications on Mac OS installed with Toolbox

Answered

On my mac, installing an intellij using the toolbox will add the app in the Applications Library folder, as well as a shortcut in the Applications folder.

If I run the app and pin it, it uses the directory in the Applications Library folder. This works fine, but the directory is associated with a ch-0 subfolder that changes with each update. As a result, whenever I update the ide, my pinned app no longer exists, and I have to delete it and re-pin the new one at the new folder.

I recently discovered the other shortcuts in the Applications folder, which seem to remain consistent. However, if I open it, a new icon will launch within the 'recent items' part of the dock, resulting in two icons.

Is there any way to pin it in a way where clicking it will not launch a new icon, and where it will persist across updates?
