Upgrading to 2018.1.7

Answered

I went to upgrade from IntellijIDEA 2018.1.6 to 2018.1.7. There is a notice in the "Idea and Plugin Updates" pop-up that reads "IntelliJ IDEA 2018.1.7 is now available for download with a new JDK version, which includes a fix for the input freezes on macOS Mojave: JRE-998." What is meant by "... with a new JDK version..."?

We've bundled the new JetBrains Runtime with IntelliJ IDEA which includes a fix for this specific issue.

See https://intellij-support.jetbrains.com/hc/articles/206544879.

I am currently running 2018.1.6. From what I found, the JetBrains Runtime is under Preferences > Plugins. When I go to this preference configuration menu, I don't see the JetBrains Plugin listed. I take it this means I don't have the JetBrains Runtime. My projects point to Java runtimes on my Mac, either 1.8.0_92, or 11.0.1. How does this affect upgrading to 2018.1.7? Do I need to do anything other than hit the Upgrade Now link?

Just update your IntelliJ IDEA and the bundled runtime will be updated automatically.

I did the upgrade. I still can't find JetBrains Runtime under Preferences > Plugins. Is it located somewhere else?

JetBrains Runtime is not a plug-in. The article linked mentions an optional plug-in to download different JetBrains Runtime versions which you don't need.

You are all set.
