Crash version control diff

Answered

Hi there,

My version of pycharm 2019.1.1 community edition seems to crash when trying to show the diff between versions in the version control section. If I select "Show Diff" with the mouse, it works. If I press command-D, it crashes instantly. I've also had other random quits when within the diff view (tried command-C and it crashed). Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Nicolas

Same problem here.
It started happening out of the blue. I had upgraded a couple of days ago, and the issues started only today.
Restarting app and rebooting did not help.
New, clean install did not help either!

Version details:
PyCharm 2019.1.1 (Community Edition)
Build #PC-191.6605.12, built on April 3, 2019
JRE: 11.0.2+9-b159.34 x86_64
JVM: OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM by JetBrains s.r.o
macOS 10.14.4

edit
It seems that having unversioned files is making the issue more likely. In my case, these are files that get moved/copied around by my app. By adding their folder to .gitignore, it stopped crashing. Deleting them, however, did not help.

It also seems that pyCharm is doing unexpected things to these files, as I get  weird race conditions in my app, causing it to fail (but that could very well be an entirely unrelated bug in my own code...)

Hi!
Thanks for the update.

Got a workaround yet? (other than downgrading to 2019.1, Build: 191.6183.50 https://www.jetbrains.com/pycharm/download/previous.html)

edit: nevermind, I downgraded

@Decaillet

It seems that it crashes mostly when using shortcut to view diffs. Try using mouse.

I couldn't find any mentioned workaround, unfortunately.

>Must I downgrade to the previous minor version? (if so, how do I do that?)

For your own convenience, you can temporary downgrade, but it seems that it should be fixed in a nearest update according to the issue.
If you use Toolbox App, just click on the hexagon and choose Roll back to...

Otherwise previous version can be downloaded from https://www.jetbrains.com/pycharm/download/previous.html
