Can't drag drop files to remote host

I used to be able to do this, but not anymore, not sure if I disabled something.

I can upload files, sync etc.. but not drag & drop from project.

Likewise. It allowed me to do random file uploads without having to switch to an FTP client or type in the console, which was quite convenient. Is there a setting to turn it back on?

+1 on this issue, just upgraded to 2019.2.1 and noticed that feature was gone. I found a workaround which is: add it into the Local Project > right click copy > right click paste in Remote Host. Ideally I would love if I could transfer from my Desktop rather first having to add it to the Local Project, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Side note for the Jetbrains Team: I would extremely appreciate if during updates you guys:

1. Didn't add new plugins (or please ASK if I want to add a plugin). After 1yr of using the default plugins in Jetbrains products of an avg of >25% CPU usage, I had to replace my MbPs battery because it would no longer hold a charge for >2hrs. Only after disabling almost all plugins (besides the essentials), now I occasionally peak at 15% CPU usage.

2. Don't touch syntax highlighting at all (or once again, ASK first). I have spent a lot of time on my syntax config.

Too often an update is more like: update AND reconfigure the IDE and undo all changes I didn't ask for that will result in decreased productivity or unnecessarily high CPU usage.

Thanks.

Please clarify where you are dragging your files from. Can't reproduce that in case of the project tool window:

Aleksey, I am sorry, but both your requests are a bit out of touch with reality. If you don't want the product to change, just don't upgrade, that should do the trick. Otherwise, updates are not supposed to break anything or introduce performance issues, but sometimes they do, and when they do, the only way of fixing that is reporting.
We can't just stall the product, I hope you understand that.

I am running into this same issue when I drag from my project files onto my remote host be it my web server or my local server. It just doesn't allow for it. When I drag the file to the remote host section I just see the stop/no icon as I hover over. I was able to drag and drop with no issues before.

Just tried to test drag'n'drop from the Project tool window to the Remote host and it working fine on PhpStorm 2019.2.3

@Ignacio, what version of IDE/OS do you have installed, so I can try testing the same? Would it be possible to record a short screencast with the issue illustration?

Could you please help me fix this issue, I still have it.
I am still reliable on using external FTP clients to upload files because I can't get this to work.
I disabled all my installed plugins. PHPStorm 2019.2.3

Waleedov, I also cannot reproduce this issue locally using the same version. Nor can I think of a config option that would cause this behavior.

Please try the following:

  1. Download and install PhpStorm 2020.1 EAP: https://www.jetbrains.com/phpstorm/nextversion/
  2. Start it, don't import settings when asked
  3. Open the project
  4. (Optional) re-create the deployment configuration if needed
  5. Try to drag the file

If it's working there, please start 2019.2 with the default settings and check how it goes there.

That worked! I believe its a setting somewhere then. Any idea what could it be?

Do I have to discard all my settings/keymaps etc..? Is there a way in-between?

Sometimes I stumble upon such issues, usually, I go with backing up the whole .PhpStorm2019.2/config/options folder and then removing the half of files there, starting PhpStorm and checking if it resolved the issue. Takes several iterations to get to the source of the issue, but it's the only way I can suggest.
