IntelliJ window doesn't appear when using X11 from Linux machine to remote X11 server after latest update

For development I use a Linux VM which uses X11 to display IntelliJ on a Windows machine using a Windows based X11 server. Since the latest update the IntelliJ banner appears but the actual IntelliJ window does not for some reason. If I revert back to the previous version then the window appears (although now has an issue with the editor tabs where they are thin and not displaying the filename anymore) so it is definitely something which has changed in the latest version which has broken this.

I'm running on Ubuntu 18.04 and using the snap version of IntelliJ. Snap version 164 works fine but snap version 165 doesn't
