PHPStorm doesnt load files on reopening

Hi,

Since a few days I have an issue with PHPStorm. When I quit the IDE I leave files open. 

Normally when I reopen the IDE it would reload the previous project with the previous opened files. Now it doesnt...

The previous project get "opened" (still the sidebar on the left is not opened), but the files tab dont show up any more.

 

What to do ?

Does it happen for one specific project only or projects are affected? What version of IDE do you have installed? (there were some changes in workspace.xml file structure made recently)

I have the same issue now, but only since the last two updates. I'm now using PhpStorm 2022.3.3

Before this worked fine for years.

I have searched the forum here, and looked through the settings, but no idea where to change this. I assume it's a setting somewhere?

Tijmen, could you please give the following steps a go?
 
1. Close the project.
2. Back up and remove the `.idea` folder from it.
3. Open the project and open some tabs in it.
4. Re-open the project and check if the tabs are still there.

I had the same issue and followed the steps you gave : it's working for me.

So, maybe a misconfiguration inside the .idea folder ?
