Strange persitent highlighting in project view tab

I'm running IDEA 2019.3 on Mac OS X Catalina 10.15.2. I am seeing files/folders with yellow highlighting after selecting them and then moving off. It's annoying and seems to make no sense as to why the items remain highlighted. Screenshot is below:

Hi Michael,

  • Do you have any custom file coloring in place? You can check it in File | Settings | Appearance & Behavior | File Colors. Try clearing the 'Enable File Colors' box to see if it's the source of the problem.
  • If you are using any VCS in your project, you may want to check/change predefined colors in File Status highlight settings: https://www.jetbrains.com/help/idea/file-status-highlights.html#views
  • If you have any third-party UI theme plugins enabled, try disabling them and restarting the IDE.
  • Try rolling back to the Default UI theme via File | Settings | Appearance & Behavior | Appearance - does highlighting remain?
