Selective settings synch approach?

I've recently started using the settings sync functionality to keep my laptop in sync with my desktop, and in general I'm very happy with it. One problem I've noticed, however, is that there a few settings that I want to be different between the two - the main ones being due to the very different screen sizes - e.g. having multiple lines of tabs on the laptop wastes too much vertical space but is helpful on a 32" 4k screen.

Is there any way to achieve this without losing the benefit of having all my other settings synchronised? If not, is this something that Jetbrains might consider adding at some point?
