Answered
Hi,
When I use remote connection I not be able to use undo. I think is because idea disables animations during remote connection. Is posible to enable this ?

What do you mean by remote mode? Do you use RDP, or maybe you are speaking about WSL, Xterm, or even remote debugging?
You may try to install "KeyCastr" or similar software on the remote machine to see if the key combination is being sent as expected. In case you see that key combination is transferred, but IntelliJ IDEA does not recognize it, you may install the "Presentation Assistant" plugin to see how IntelliJ IDEA interprets the received hotkey.
Hi thanks you for answer. Yes I use RDP. I don't think is a problem with keys transfer because in the menu undo is disable as well.
IntelliJ IDEA does not limit functionality based on the connection type. I just checked it via RDP: https://i.imgur.com/UqaAhxn.png
There should be something else. May you record a screencast of the entire screen when the issue reproduces? It should bring some light.
As of 2022 there is still this issue. I can't determine what affects this occurrence, it works just randomly. Additionally a lot of other commands behaves similar (on/off randomly), e.g. copying (especially from run/debug outputs), renaming variables and functions.
Sadly, we were not able to reproduce this issue yet. Can you please share your screencast?
My environment doesn't allow screencast. Usually remote development is used in restricted environments.
However after additional investigations my guess is that this happens due to the latency. According to JetBrains Client (from right bottom corner): Ping (UI): 100-130 ms.
Did I understand correctly that the following steps reproduce your issue:
1. You work as usual on your remote system "RemoteSystem" via RDP client on "LocalSystem."
2. At a random moment during your typing (not after pressing specific hotkeys, clicking particular buttons, or re-establishing remote connection) you see that the "Undo" button and "Undo" command become disabled, so you can no longer use it.
- Please correct my description if I am wrong.
- Copy and paste info from your Idea "About" screen.
- Specify OS name and version for "RemoteSystem" and "LocalSystem".
- If any of above system is Linux, please also specify Window Manager and whether it's X11 or Wayland.
Yes, you are correct. I just also would add that sometime undo doesn't work from the very beginning of the session.
