Console tab names in Datagrip now unreadable in 2020.2

Answered

I just upgraded my copy of DataGrip to 2020.2, and it appears as if the behavior for console tab names has changed.  Previously, the tab would show me the full database@server name however now it's truncated in a completely useless way.

For example, I have several databases on several servers such as:

Now, all of my console tabs are truncated to [my_databa...ompany.net] which makes it impossible to tell which one I'm currently working on.

Is there any way to get back the old behavior?

Hello! When making this change we never assumed that the ending of data sources can be the same. Is it an option for you just to remove `my_company.net` from names?

Sure, it’s possible but now I have to start getting clever with how I name my connections to make sure they’re uniquely identifiable within your character limit, and that they’re distinct enough so that I don’t accidentally mistake one for another in an emergency. I would much rather just have my clear unambiguous long server names back.

Unfortunately it seems like you’ve run into an instance of spacebar heating: https://xkcd.com/1172/

By the way, the good way to distinguish your data sources is coloring:

Yup, I already color each data source by customer however each customer has several different sites each with prod/staging environments, so colors only get me so far.

Please create a feature request here: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issues/DBE

We need to understand if there is a demand for old behavior to come back.

Done: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/DBE-11359

Many people seem perfectly happy with the behavior, so ideally this would be toggleable.

Upvoted. Meanwhile, is there a way to remove "console" from tab name? I have 7 tabs open and all of them are consoles, this word is absolutely redundant but takes up the precious space.

Agreed, although sometimes it inexplicably shows "console_2" instead. An icon would be just as helpful to disambiguate the rare cases when I'm e.g. editing a file with DataGrip.
