DataGrip crashed on Big Sur
Answered
On BigSur 11.0 on Mac, DataGrip crashed right when opening the IDE (the IDE quickly appears, then closes and a crash report window is shown).
DataGrip Version is 2020.2.3

we need logs for investigation from ~/Library/Logs/JetBrains/DataGrip2020.2 and a java_error_* file from user home dir. please upload it here and provide upload id.
Thanks for the quick reply, Yuriy.
I rebooted the Mac, it crashed one more time, now it works. Same with Webstorm.
I uploaded the logs anyway, in case you might want to check: Upload id: 2020_10_19_QJMnpgCU8xuyJgKr (files: java_error_in_datagrip_25424.log and 12 more)
Hello, I also experienced multiple successive crashes of Datagrip on BigSur, here is the Upload with the logs : Upload id: 2020_10_21_VWEEi2qwgbdmBV6g (files: DataGrip2020.2.zip, java_error.zip)
- Please note that even when DataGrip restarts without crashing , it still crashes when I try to download a CSV file
Do you experience the issue after machine wakes from sleep?
I would not say so. I have not been able to reproduce the issue consistently : after I stop using datagrip for some time, I may restart (this just happened now : I had stopped trying when I reported the issue 3 hours ago, and now, I was able to restart it). I'm worried that if I try to export to CSV, it will crash again...
This morning I experienced the issue after clean reboot, using datagrip a bit and then crash....
looks like known issue
please read this comment, here is a workaround suggested. let me know if it helps.
That looked promising, but I was stuck at this step :
Help > Find Actionand search for "Choose Runtime"Could not find this in DataGrip
You need to install 'Choose runtime' plugin first (via File -> Settings -> Plugins, search in marketplace)
Thanks Yuriy, that helped with the runtime.
It's a duplicate of known issue as you suspected.
Indeed ! this seems to address the issue. Will we need to revert this when a permanent fix is found (or when BigSur is out of Beta) ?

hi, I have updated DataGrip to 2020.3, can I run this version without any issue with the new macOS Big Sur ?
there are several known issues with UI in BigSur, so I can't state you won't face any of them.
I cannot get my pycharm started after update to BigSur(11.0.1). I have uploaded the log file, file ID:2020_12_07_XHykZuR4NXnB7fHT.
Hello Bobyuningbo ,
try to start the IDE with default settings by renaming [config folder](https://www.jetbrains.com/help/pycharm/directories-used-by-the-ide-to-store-settings-caches-plugins-and-logs.html) will it help?
