error: snap "pycharm-community" is not available on stable for this architecture (arm64) but exists on other architectures

Answered

It looks like there isn't a PyCharm build for the arm64 platform, which includes the Raspberry pi 4. Is this coming any time soon?

When I follow the steps to load Pycharm on Ubuntu (20.10) on the Raspberry Pi I get the following:

david@david-desktop:~$ sudo snap install pycharm-community --classic
[sudo] password for david:
error: snap "pycharm-community" is not available on stable for this
architecture (arm64) but exists on other architectures (amd64).
david@david-desktop:~$

Thanks,

Dave

Please follow https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/JBR-1726 for updates.
There is no ETA for ARM64 support yet.

Sergey Karpov the link you provided is outdated. As you can see there are already arm64 builds: https://confluence.jetbrains.com/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=159974937

I've tested PyCharm Community with JBR from my link above and it works.

Hi, I've been having the same problem on Oracle's Ampere A1's. I tried Rafrafek's solution but I have been unable to access that page, because you need to login and my password and username for my Jetbrains account does not work on that page.

So I just had a question for Rafrafek as to what login he used to access that page.

On a side note, are these builds available for Rider as well?

Hi anime18lover,

I think the link was accessible without logging in. Not sure why it is now required to log in.

It's great that there are arm64 builds for Linux now, but as of 2023-05-15, there are still no arm64 snaps. Is there any reason there aren't arm64 builds available in the snap store for the various JetBrains IDEs when there are amd64 snaps and arm64 builds that can be installed directly?
