Bright white alerts on Macos Big Sur

Answered

I upgraded to Big Sur over the weekend, and I use dark theme on macos, as well as the Dark Purple theme on PyCharm.

I've now noticed that the alerts that pop up when committing (e.g. the Code Analysis warnings) are in a bright white dialog and are styled completely differently to how they were prior to Big Sur.

I presume these dialogs are OS-native dialog boxes and not themed by PyCharm, although I do think that prior to Big Sur they had purple buttons so was under the impression that they were part of the IDE theme not the OS theme.

I tried switching to High Contrast theme and it made no difference.  I tried deleting a file to see what the alert looked like there, but it was styled dark as I would hope,

Can anyone confirm that this is definitely an OS thing and PyCharm isn't doing anything in particular here.  (So I can raise it with apple accessibility). Also if anyone happens to know if there's a way around it that would be really helpful.

Being visually impaired, my eyes are really sensitive to light and reading anything on a white background is really hard.

Just noticed that the alert style has changed in Sublime Text too, but in that case the dialogs are dark as I would expect.  So maybe it is a PyCharm/Intellij thing fater all?

The Big Sur has a new design for alerts, so IDE follows this design too. Could you please attach screenshots describing the problem? Please also attach screenshot of your Appearance settings and content from "About" dialog. Thank you.

I had a quick check in WebStorm 2020.2.3 and the dialogs appear as before (dark with purple buttons).

But in PyCharm 2020.3 EAP, all the git dialog boxes are new-style white backgrounds.  (So far I've seen commit warnings (Code Analysis and Todo), Git revert abort confirmation and confirm force push.

I also noticed that Chrome is using the new dialog style but, like Sublime Text, it is dark.

I will grab some screenshots when I have a few mins free, but wonder if maybe it would be better to create a new issue in youtrack instead of putting them here.

Yes I was going to create a YouTrack issue. It would be just great if you could file an issue at https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issues/IDEA with screenshots and idea.log (Help | Show Log in ... action) file after IDE restart. Thanks!

Thanks, Andrey Dernov - I have raised an issue here: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/PY-45495?

I've attached a screenshot of one of the dialogs and my idea.log.
