Using Punto Swicher with IDEA Community

Answered

I'm using Punto Switcher for > 10years in day-to-day work to fix a text typed with wrong keyboard layout. Unfortunately, it's problematic to use it inside the IntelliJ, when typing in code editor, as well as several other places, like Git commit message window. When you select some text and hit "Shift + Break" (change selected text layout) - it looks like it's switched back and forth, leaving text unchanged.

Is there any workaround for this? (Maybe using some IntelliJ plugin and disabeing Punto Switcher for the Intellij) Is it possible for this problem to be fixed in nearest future?

BR,

Dmitry

Hi Dmitry,

I don't seem to have this problem in the latest IDEA 2021.1, and I've never had it in other versions.

Maybe a PC / Punto Switcher process restart will help?

What if you change the default mapping for the 'Change selected text layout' action to something else in PS settings?

Restarting/rebooting isn't helping, even for a short time, I see the problem each time after the restart. You're right - the probem can't be reproduced on the other machine with Win10. I'll try changing the default mapping.

Could you please tell me if the problem with auto-switching in punto switcher has been solved in any way? The thing is that by setting ignore in punto -> WebStorm auto-switching still happens. It's really annoying.

WebStorm 2022.3.2

Hello,

What OS and Punto switcher version do you use?

0

macOS Ventura 13.1 Punto Switcher 2.1.5.1724

How did you install WebStorm? Do you use ToolBox?

All that installation was done via JetBrains Toolbox 1.27.2.13801, macOS 13.1

Did you add path from ToolBox installation? Open IDE setting in ToolBox and check install location (it should be like "~/Library/Application Support/JetBrains/Toolbox/apps/<APP>/ch-0/223.8617.3")
