PyCharmHome directory
I’ve set the default project directory in System Settings to, let's say, `/Users/macuser/Projects`. However, every time I start PyCharm, it creates a `PyCharmHome ` folder inside that directory. Even after I delete the folder, PyCharm keeps creating that folder.

The
PyCharmHomefolder belongs to the Home window of PyCharm 2026.3, the window that opens when no project is open. PyCharm creates the folder in the default project directory on every start without a project, so deleting the folder does not help.The problem is tracked in IJPL-255762.
The folder stops appearing when the Home window is turned off. Tested on PyCharm 2026.3:
1. Open Settings | Advanced Settings
2. In the IDE section, clear
Show Home window when the last project is closed3. Click OK
4. Restart PyCharm
5. Delete the
PyCharmHomefolderAfter that the folder is not created again, and the Welcome screen opens instead of the Home window.
