IntelliJ vs Webstorm for React-Native development

Answered

I'm starting to work with react-native and I want to know if you think it would make more sense to use IntelliJ or Webstorm. When I was working with React it made sense to use webstorm. I just finished making an app in Webstorm but when I look how to make an APK it seems like most of the documentation is for IntelliJ.

Are there any react-native devs here? Do you use webstorm or intellij at work?

Hi,

The scope of IntelliJ IDEA Ultimate's support for both React and React Native covers all the functionality available in Webstorm.

I am in a similar situation and would like to know as well. While I'm aware that IntelliJ encapsulates all the functionality of Webstorm, I am wondering if there is any extra functionality that would make using the heavier IDE beneficial.

There is no extra functionality regarding React Native in IDEA. It would be beneficial if you also used other languages and technologies that aren't supported by WebStorm. The only significant difference is that IDEA Ultimate provides databases support by default and in WebStorm you need a plugin that requires a license.

I find out big advantage using both. For backend I am using IntelliJ and for frontend Webstorm, so in case both my IDE are open then is easier for me to find out what is for FE and what for BE.

You can view the comparison of IDEA and WS here:

It should give you a general idea about what IntelliJ IDEA is capable of and what features you can make use of in your web projects.
