Import settings does ?almost? nothing

Answered

Hi,

I reinstalled my OS, installed the Intellij IDEA 2021.2 and now I am trying to import my settings file. When I do this, restart the IDE, the font size changes according to the one specified in the settings but the Keymaps are not imported at all and default ones stay there. The same goes when I import these settings into Webstorm or PyCharm (I have not tried any other IDE). Moreover, some things like Scala SDK in IDEA gets reseted and I have to specify it again. Also the virtual environments in PyCharm gets kind of "reseted" - I have to specify the Interpreter settings and virtual environment paths again.

Thanks for the help.

Hi Egor Klepikov,

thank you. I tried to use the 2021.2.1 RC build but it does not seem to work. Fyi, before using 2021.2.1 RC build as you suggested, I was using the 2021.2 build which I installed via Ubuntu Software:

Egor Klepikov, I downloaded the versions 2020.3.4 and I can confirm that the settings import work here seamlessly. Therefore, there's probably some problem with the 2021.2 versions.

Could you please upload the settings you import to https://uploads.jetbrains.com/ ? (do not forget to specify the UploadID)

Egor Klepikov sure. Just a quick question - is it possible that there could be some sensitive information located in the settings like usernames, password?

Intellij IDEA saves passwords in the OS password managers (e.g. Keychain, KeePass) So it is safe to share these settings.

It seems the fix is not in public yet. As we can see from https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEA-274134 the fix is included in 212.5091 but the latest available version is 212.5080. Please download a version above 212.5091 from https://confluence.jetbrains.com/display/IDEADEV/IDEA+2021.2+latest+builds once it is released.
