How do I get rid of new editor tab tool buttons?

How do I get rid of these new buttons that are cluttering the top of the editor, to the right of the path to the current class/method?

See "Main Toolbar" section under Preferences | Appearance & Behavior | Menus and Toolbars
I tried that, it refuses to go away.
Meaning that after removing most of what was under Main Toolbar, the editor toolbar looks exactly the same.
I've restarted IntelliJ after every change to confirm, makes no difference.
Try "Navigation Bar Toolbar"
