Unable to launch IntelliJ IDE in MacOS from the launchpad

I downloaded and installed the community version on my mac. I can see the icon in the launchpad but when I click on it, nothing happens and the IDE does not get launched. I will greatly appreciate some help on this.

Do you have macOS Intel or Apple Silicon architecture?
